How to Apply

Applications for Year 7 in 2027.

Students are required to complete a written application. Click here to d​ownload this application.

Please return your application to the Glenala SHS office or by email enrol@glenalashs.eq.edu.au.

Please be advised that we are a catchment managed school. Please check the catchment map to see if you are eligible to apply.

Successful applicants are required to book an enrolment interview in a timely manner.

Program Overview

The program promotes successful learning, confidence and creativity. It includes subjects that encourages innovation, design and real world problem solving through areas of Science, Robotics, Media, 3D Printing, Computer Coding and App Development. The program is delivered across subjects that draw from a combination of Maths, Science and Technology curriculum content. Students need to have an interest in collaboratively developing creative and resourceful solutions to problems and extended challenge tasks. 

When considering suitable students, factors that extend beyond academic ability are also considered. Students must demonstrate an excellent work ethic and show commitment towards achieving their full academic potential as well as aligning themselves with school values.

Program Aims

As well as extending students in the academic areas of Science, Technology, the Arts and Mathematics, the Program aims to develop students as life-long learners with 21st Century skills in: 


Fundamental to our STEM Program is the explicit teaching of higher order thinking skills essential to attaining high achievement in academic studies. The program includes special projects and participation in extension activities.

The program promotes successful learning, confidence, and creativity, preparing students to be active and informed citizens.

Excursions and Workshops

As part of the STEM Excellence Program, students will have the opportunity to engage in curriculum-linked experiences that extend their learning beyond the classroom. Some of these experiences, excursions, and specialised workshops may require a small fee to cover materials, transport, or external provider costs.

Families will be informed of any associated costs and dates in advance with permission notes also being required.
