Glenala SHS has a proud sporting tradition and actively encourage our
students to participate in extra-curricular sporting activities. We are a
member of the Yagera Interschool Sports Association where competition is played
through Summer and Winter Gala Days. Students can participate in a variety of
sports including Touch, Volleyball, Basketball, Rugby League, Netball and
Football. The school sporting pathway through our affiliation with the Southern
Scorpions School Sport District also enables students the opportunity to
progress in a huge range of sports all the way to state and national level.
We have high expectations
of students who wish to represent our school in Sport and ensure that all
students are aware of their commitment to our Sporting teams. All students are
required to ensure they maintain all areas of our Sports Contract to be able to
represent the school.
Glenala State High School
offers the Sports Development Program for students in years 10 – 12. This
program nurtures your student’s interests in Sport and also allows your
students the opportunity to participate in many leadership experiences in our
local community.
In addition, in 2020 the
Year 7 Netball Development Program will commence. This ongoing program aligns
with the current Year 7 HPE curriculum and aims to work specifically with
students who are looking to develop their netball skills along with leadership,
teamwork skills and academic success.
Please feel free to discuss anything further with our HOD of HPE
Mr Brenton O'Neill or Sports Coordinator Brooke Wasmund.
