The Academy of Creative Arts (ACA) is designed for students with a passion for the creative arts. Classes are offered in the performing arts curriculum areas of Dance, Drama, and Music. Students are taught by specialist dance, music and drama teachers, and engage in workshops with industry professionals. ACA students study units of work that align to the Australian Curriculum but that differ from those that students study in regular Years 7 – 9 Arts subjects. ACA students are extended on the respective year level (band level) coursework and engage in more cognitively demanding concepts. Many school leaders, GEM and academic award recipients have graduated our ACA Program.
We have a state of the art performance hall for our students to utilise for assessment, co-curricular activities and performance opportunities. Academy of Creative Arts students become valuable members of our co-curricular activities. These vary from year to year, but include Dance Troupe, Stage Band, Drama Club, Vocal Ensemble, Music Club, Media Club and Visual Arts Club. As part of the Academy of Creative Arts program, students will be enrolled in our instrumental music program in Year 7 and may choose to continue lessons each subsequent year as well as join our Stage Band.
At the end of our three year ACA course, students may enrol in our Certificate II Creative Industries TAFE Course offered in Year 10. Upon completion, students are able to bank two points towards their QCE.
