Glenala SHS are very proud to share the achievements of 2016 Dux of Glenala SHS, Kyle Ryan.
Kyle was awarded the highest mark possible for a graduating Year 12 student –
an OP1. Only 790 students in
Queensland received this honour. This is a wonderful achievement for Kyle; he
is a dedicated student who worked extremely hard to achieve this result. Kyle
has been accepted into the University of Queensland’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) program
to become a doctor. This is the second year in a row where a student from
Glenala SHS has achieved an OP1; in 2015, Thuy Nguyen achieved an OP1, and was
accepted into a Bachelor of Optometry program at QUT.
On Saturday 18 February, 2017 Kyle was recognised by the QCAA as Queensland's highest achieving Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander student.
During his studies at Glenala SHS, Kyle received an award from the Physics Institute of Australia for achieving outstanding results, and he also completed a Research Internship with QUT on Medical Research.
Glenala SHS is very proud of Kyle and his achievements. He epitomises our School Vision: "We are a united community committed to improving learning through strong values and high expectations. We aim to inspire our community to believe and achieve today, so that they will succeed in the challenging and exciting world of tomorrow."
